booktok is a wild place, always was. but the sheer amount of people that think a person that threatens or manipulates is hot is insane. and i can't even distance me fully from these people because i'm sure still somewhat part of them. it is a sick mindset and it is dangerous. glorifying woman getting mistreated by some hot guy, people manipulating others like its a cool skill β it is not, it is disgusting.

the same goes for overworking. i notice this especially in my country: if you work less than 50 hours per week, you are automatically less worthy in a conversation than someone who works 60 or more hours per week. they treat you, like you have less experience. and i do find that unacceptable, because the normal amount of work per week should be 30 to 50 hours, that is enough; if you work more than that for a long time, your privat life will soon be completely gone.

don't get me wrong β having a sense of yourself is incredibly important. you need to know who you are, why and who you might want to become. self reflection and self awareness is essential in your life, but i am not talking about these things here. what i'm talking about is the defining of yourself by a few aspects that you chose yourself; your name, your gender, your religion or your sexuality. all these things are important and every person should freely decide what gender, religion, etc they identify with. but these things aren't you. and obsessing over the fact that you are x-sexual isn't healthy. because everyone is far more than that. we should live in a society, where religion, gender or anything like that doesn't decide anything about us more that these very things.
this topic is already old but apparently there are still many people that do not get that being extremely overweight or underweight is unhealthy. unhealthy, not ugly. every body is beautiful, but not every body is healthy. and that is not an insult, it is simply a fact. to much body fat or not enough body fat can lead to serious illnesses or even early death.
i'm mostly talking about tiktok now. tiktoks usually do not have a warning. a kid just scrolls through the videos and suddenly, before it can react, its confronted with a video of a woman getting beaten up, an extremely violent traffic incident β anything that involves someone getting hurt. uncensored.

so, first of all: any kind of violence is really bad; mental, domestic, war, etc. it should all be illegal and heavily punished. in the last decades of woman movements we reached a lot in terms of diversity and anti-domestic violence. but within the last years a new mindset developed which somehow made it seem like violence (of any kind) towards men is less worse than violence towards women. and that is bad. if a men beats his wife, it's illegal and if a woman beats her husband, it is just as worse β there is no difference, but according to this mindset there is. maybe this comes from the fact that "woman are just that way" or "men are biological stronger, so it is not that bad"; but it is. violence is violence.

i do not know why, but apparently you are really cool if you only slept 3 or 4 hours today. i notice this especially in school. like it is cool to be sick and ill. i assume it is a try to stand out in a way so others worry about you and be interested in your life, but in my opinion, having a healthy life is the coolest thing ever. if you lack sleep you are less productive β even though you have more time. you will feel weak, nervous, angry or scared. lack of sleep can impact your grades, mood, physical and mental health negatively. so it is everything but not something to be proud of if you did not sleep enough last night.
and some people do not even realise anymore, that this is a big problem. we see violence every day and it is changing our brain β we no longer care, because we saw something like this already as dozen times.

i get that mental illnesses are really fascinating. i feel like people nowadays just really want to be special, doesn't matter if it is positive or negative as long as you stand out with some kind of creepy or fascinating thing β that you probably don't even have.
but the absurd thing about body positivity is that they promote unhealthy lifestyles without rethinking because everyone needs to be included, even the worst lifestyles, but they do not include everyone. what about people that sit in wheelchairs? that are missing limbs? people with bodies that aren't symmetrical? they are not included.
